Not really lol I tried looking a few weeks ago for personal reasons, trying to est tariff if I ordered an international item, and it was a total mess of contradicting exec orders and news clippings

Deeply disappointed with my alma mater, where I was subject to right-wing and occasionally extremely hateful rhetoric as free speech, that they think that protection only applies to some people.

Clemson doesn’t have a law school and it shows.

🚨NEW RESULTS (w/ Slattery & Nober)
- When gov't engineers retire, highway projects cost more: the engineers pay for themselves 6 times over
- Improving gov’t engineer quality from the 25th to 75th percentile reduces costs by 14%, equal to 3x avg. engineer pay

So no, no one “original” part. Ethical shops/sellers will specify what’s original vs not, but no broadly accepted definition. Heard once “ they find one original screw and build a car around it” (derogatory)

Touchy subject in the classic car resto hobby lol

I know surveying is hard but the wording is also so odd I don’t know how I would answer this. I follow politics because policies directly impact my/others lives, not because I view it as a hobby. Like I want to know if I’m going to be able to access meds + healthcare, which are very important to me!

Which is doubly idiotic since like 99% of dogs these days are under-exercised, but you don’t see them complaining about neglect on every pic of a dog lounging

Sorry have to be serious for a second: I've been looking for a map of bases abroad for a project, exactly like this but this only seems to include bases in the US. Any idea where I might find that?

I have students write for five minutes at the start of every class about the reading. I don't grade them, but I give feedback. It works pretty well to ensure a baseline level of reading and regular writing practice. I do it in a Bluebook that goes back and forth, collecting their writing over time.

I’ve done this for 2 weeks now and it *absolutely rules*. Best class discussions I’ve ever had. Best engagement with readings. They write in this worksheet for 15 minutes, then talk about their responses in groups of 3-4, then groups share with the whole class, and *then* we talk about the readings

Updating my comparative public admin seminar class—which was decimated by AI last year—to maybe be a little more LLM-proof by adding a 20–30 minute start-of-class writing & discussion activity. Will it work? Who knows! Full details and PDF here: governancef25.classes.andrewheiss.com/assignment/c...

Worksheet called "Check-in and warm-up" with these questions:

1. Name and date
2. Check in asking about attendance and preparation with readings
3. Write 1–2 paragraphs about (1) what you most want to talk about from the readings today, and (2) why.
4. Write 1–2 paragraphs connecting this week’s topic and readings to a recent or current event.

Yeah I watched it for the first time a few years ago, it was the last of the Craig movies I hadn’t seen, and I couldn’t believe that was the one people unanimously thought was good.

It’s a bold move Cotton, to rip off the NIL of people who became rich because of it and have more money than god to retain fleets of lawyers to enforce it, let’s see how that pays off for them!

In case you’re wondering how energy policy is going in California, the fully regressive pricing structure will be taking effect soon 🙃
Screenshot of an email from Southern California Edison showing estimated bills under the old and new pricing structure for different levels of usage. Low usage now pays more, medium the same, and high usage pays less.

Idk about newer versions, but back in the early days of ChatGPT a student in my intro prob& stats class was using it to generate practice problems, except it would give wrong answers. Had to tell her she shouldn’t use it, not bc it’s cheating, but bc it’s making her worse off!
