We heard similar stuff in 2024 but still saw a lot of seats where Republicans sailed through with no contest (story below)

The big task of lawmakers this #kyga26 session is to pass a two-year state budget, which will be more challenging than recent years, as @sylviaruthg.lpm.org and I explain here. Beshear will present his budget proposal tomorrow, and GOP House supermajority will present theirs at some point this week.

So this (with correction) is actually in line with what Beshear told me last week. Still predicting a shortfall, but it's pretty tiny compared to the overall state budget

I mean, unclear how much this was really tied to the shortfall, but that's part of what Beshear attributed this whole mess to:
