It’s humbling when young people take time to reflect on one of my books.This blog reflects a returning to division and ‘othering’. A sensitive young woman like Maryse doesn’t belong. I hope she keeps her courage to continue to see life as not all black and white.

We are in a struggle to preserve some beautiful ancient woodland. There is money& carbon offset to be made by planting new trees but few advantages for maintaining old trees. I think that has to change.

They say a reader brings themselves to a novel. Maryse is obviously a delightful and thoughtful young woman . Sculpting the Elephant is enjoyable and humorous but… a purpose in writing it was to tell the story of Ashoka, a much needed example that change is possible in these violent times.
