Alternatively, if you know where to sell your plasma in Baltimore, this is also helpful.
syn-apt-o-phy-sin.bsky.social
Anyway, please donate to Hopkins fund so I don't have to sell my plasma.

rationing groceries, putting off dental care, putting off gender affirming care, and begging on the internet to afford grad school while colleagues go on their like 3rd or 4th vacation of the year sure does something to one's brain.

To say nothing of what seeing our compared salaries has done to me

You must fail to fix your RAM three times before you can even hope to fix your RAM.

Ah. They were gauging cognition, but because they were so close to the motor strip, they were constantly checking for bilateral motor functioning. Stuff like having the patient make a fist, wiggle toes, etc.

Which was wild to learn that synthetic dura mater exists.

The recording itself was from a surgical program that filmed procedures for CE materials, so they showed everything from boring through the skull (in this case, I think part of the temporal bone or parietal bone), the resection, and the closing process.
syn-apt-o-phy-sin.bsky.social
yes! though you're typically awake for portions of the procedure, not always the entire thing.

As irritating as Chloe Cole is, I mostly just feel sadness for her. She has a wound in her soul that just can't be healed, and she is desperate to pile trans suffering into that wound in a desperate attempt to find peace. More than anything, I just find myself feeling a deep sense of pity.

no shade, it's just the lack of fact-checking and constant reckless fearmongering.

Hot take: if an editor can water down your voice, then your voice is not nearly as strong as you think it is.

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Nola is also just a good person, with good values, and somebody who genuinely has so much to give to writers.

I could gush about Nola’s approach to editing work, but the best thing I can say is there was never a tone of voice she couldn’t work with to bring out the best possible results
syn-apt-o-phy-sin.bsky.social
Nola is the kind of editor you dream of, and genuinely more people should be banging down Nola’s door to get her on their projects.
syn-apt-o-phy-sin.bsky.social
I gas Nola up a lot and it’s because genuinely, I’ve not had anybody edit my work that I think took as much care with it and leveled the work up more than Nola.

@ohnola.bsky.social to this day, no editor has done it better.

Nola not only saves you from yourself, but she also knows how to work with authors so the anxiety of losing your voice in your work is gone. If anything, Nola helped me clarify my voice.

repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself

“I’ve been working a second job. Not for extra spending money, not for fun: but to cover the costs of my gender-affirming care. It’s exhausting. And obviously, I’m doing it because this care is necessary for me to live fully as myself in the type of landscape we live in today, as a queer person.”

Currently there are seven members of management and six unit members at RNG. But management salaries make up 67% of the salary budget (excluding one employee who is neither a member of management nor the unit). Meanwhile, RNG unit members’ salaries account for only 33%.

...We have 7 managers for 6 employees. When management is out the wheel keeps turning. When a unit member is out, the quality of work decreases, projects are dropped, and deadlines are missed even with clear handoff documents.” (2/2)

Watching the removal of a massive tumor anterior to the motor strip this evening and it was absolutely fascinating.

Closer to? Tammy, we are there!

Trump is moving us closer to authoritarianism with each deployment of troops into states.

From Illinois to Oregon to California—

None of our states asked for this, nor need this.

I and every U.S. Senator from these states are demanding Trump to end these deployments ASAP.
