Late but it depends. I can see the use for building a community, and at least early on it might make sense to do support there too. I can say from experience that its great for dev work though, way easier for dev chats to happen on discord than a forum or github threads.

Most discord servers arent for large projects that would actually benefit from having a forum. They're just small communities of friends who talk with each other. Closer to IRC and Matrix than anything else

Because most people on discord aren't there for formal discussions or suppport. They're just there to talk with each other and socialize with other ppl who have similar interests/hobbies to them. It serves an entirely different function that forums like discourse do.

because it's not a forum. It's a chat platform like IRC, if IRC was actually half-decent.
