I think this is the second time a band have unexpectedly come back after I picked up their CD

Picked this up on Saturday.

Another day, another version of Quake ticked off. This time it’s the Nintendo 64 version, recreated for the remaster and brought into CRT filtered, 30 fps majesty by me tinkering with the settings. It’s a good version of the game, and now I can say I beat The Pain Maze in one go, which was rough.

Beat Quake II: The Reckoning - was much better than I expected, although it definitely loses steam at the end, in both level design and enemy diversity. Off to play the PSX version of the OG next!

As well as the Blokees Wheels, I had my first actual Hasbro Transformer of the year show up yesterday - Windcharger! He’s alright - the bot mode’s good looks are countered by how fiddly he feels, but the transformation and car mode made it a worthwhile pickup.

And last but not least - the big bad himself Megatron! And he *is* big. No solidex/stuff that feels like metal but isn’t, and his back wheels don’t roll very well, but he certainly looks kick arse, and the ratcheting tank gun is very satisfying to listen to.

My incredible Blokees gacha luck strikes again - it’s Lost Light Rodimus! A very unique construction and appearance, and he comes with a tiny driver figure to build and all - hilariously, said figure doesn’t appear to actually fit in Rodimus, so I lobbed him in Swindle for now.

In the home stretch, so here’s the IDW version of Prowl’s Cybertronian police car mode. Being a space car it’s very abstract like Runamuck, and reminds me of some of the old Hot Wheels I had as a kid. Definitely a nice counter to the more conventional vehicles!

Forgot to add this to the thread, so here’s a repost - Getting all the retools out the way in one swoop apparently, it’s Mirage. It’s impressive what a paintjob and some alt parts can do for the look. Very nice!

Another retool, in the form of Gears - again, I think the redos in this set do enough to justify having each one, and Gears includes a wee boost effect to sweeten the deal.

It’s a new day, so I’m onto the last six boxes - starting with Swindle, who is for the most part the same as Hound, but with his own nice colours, a new front bumper and weapon. I’m a fan! He specifically looks and feels very Corgi to me.
January 15, 2026 at 12:12 PM
And to wrap up the first half of the box, here’s some of them populating my Siyang Culture Metroplex, whose broken arm is somehow holding on after a bit of superglue

Last car of the evening is the big guy himself, Optimus Prime - once again based on the fairly well-regarded IDW version. I love the lighter blue on him, and the way the cab opens up to seat a figure
January 14, 2026 at 10:11 PM
Wheels no. 5 - it’s Hound! A really nice paintjob on him, with a moving turret to boot. The windscreen was a bit tough to get fitted, but it’s staying on.
January 14, 2026 at 10:06 PM
It’s the guy who’s 90% responsible for me buying a box of these - Scamper! He’s a beaut, with a full metal upper body, and I’m sure he’ll pair nicely with the Siyang culture Metroplex I got last week.
January 14, 2026 at 7:18 PM
It’s Runamuck! In his IDW guise, so a very deconstructed sports car. Did look a bit *too* out there for my tastes on first glance, but it’s growing on me. Lots of moving parts too, so I hope I get one of those rare driver figures.

Update: Griff has come to help me build
January 14, 2026 at 6:25 PM
Second up is Drag Strip, whose colourscheme feels a bit more muted than usual but good gravy I like it. His hubcaps actually spin too, and he rolls like a proper Hot Wheels. Speaking of which, here’s a photo of him with HW Tracks and an RID Spychanger.

First out of the gates is Swerve. I do find it a bit weird the hubcaps are static, but the wheels roll nice otherwise. That My First Blaster is getting a 5mm peg mod for AOTP Swerve though. The way the cockpit opens is rather cool.

A box of Blokees Wheels has arrived for me, so I’m going to do what must be done and build them.
January 14, 2026 at 5:37 PM
My big third party Metroplex has arrived. Early impressions are ‘I don’t think his arm is supposed to be separated from his body out of the box’ and ‘how on earth do I get this sorted out’

Griff is understandably not thrilled with the fireworks, so I am helping him with the rather paradoxical solution of ‘electronic dance music’

My Christmas present to myself arrived today.
