It depends, but usually the context is given by what comes before or after.
There is maybe some confusion between the use of “its” and “it’s”. “Its” is a possessive form of the critter “it” (e.g. the dog wagged its tail) and “it’s” just means “it is” (e.g. it’s a lovely day)
