Post-fencing sad because I'll have to leave my group and instructor eventually. Absolutely relish the friendship we established, but it'll only contribute to the heartbreak in the future. If only I could have everything in this life.

Some people (falsely) assume I started fencing in the first place because I had too much unreleased anger.
Sadly not even HEMA fencing can help with that, as I'm not trying to kill people who annoy me but train with my teammates. I've never quite succeeded in forgetting whose face is under the mask.

Fencing in my HEMA mask is a special kind of fun: can't hear shit, can't see shit, but at least I'm not risking another concussion.

One would think that being in a serious medieval fencing squad would erase all pick me girl/boy mentality, considering that the median age is 30, and be wrong.

Nothing feels a bigger mockery than one of the instructors blowing me a kiss through the mask while on the piste, when I'm still locked in the hour of hellish preparation😭
