Today was one of the hardest days of my life. We had to say goodbye to my heart, lifelong companion and soul familiar Mushu. If not for her guidance, I might not have made it through some truly terrible times.

My female (allegedly) Deathshead #petroach, Estelle, has sadly passed. I was fortunate to retrieve her from the enclosure before the isopods took too much, but she will be immortalized after preservation. Frank and Estelle Constanza taught me that roaches can be playful, silly and dramatic.

Caught my #jumpingspider (Peter) catching his first prey under my care. Also out of focus because I was repositioning my macro when he decided to strike. One day I'll have big kid AV equipment. I caught it in a wide overhead shot fully. Wish I could've used fill lights, but he wasn't having it.

I've finally been able to set aside some time to photograph and inventory my #terrarium collection. I had no idea how many I had actually sitting around, but I have at least 18 that are portfolio worthy. (Gotta spend my time wisely somehow) I'm putting together a physical portfolio for my table.

I’ve been a #jumpingspider caretaker since Saturday and I’ve become completely enamored with this spider. He lives on my desk and I sing him the “Peter-man” theme song. He is getting an upgrade soon!

Peter the #jumpingspider started making a little nest in the top of his enclosure! He’s making his house a home :3

Peter, our family’s new #jumpingspider, gave me a mini heart attack this morning until I realized he just left his old clothes on the floor. I also managed to evict him from the deli cup, but had to include his emotional support lid during the transition.

Did a #terrarium photoshoot for my portfolio! Worked through only half of my terrariums so far and took way longer than I thought, but I’m super proud of the work!

Our new #jumpingspider’s home. He wasn’t ready to move out of the deli cup into a natural setup. He’s spent most of his short life so far in a 2oz deli cup with a pipe cleaner, so I understand his anxiety. If the apprentice doesn’t come up with a name soon I have one picked out already.

We brought home our first jumping spider today! A fellow vendor at a market was selling them for a generous price and I couldn’t resist. Currently constructing it a semi permanent home while I wait for a specific enclosure

Busting my butt to release a product to go alongside the terrarium kits: a hand bound #terrarium tracking #journal! I did some gauges digitally and didn’t like how they turned out so I went old school with it and used a protractor. #illustration #zine #journals

Up near where the abandoned brewery is. Just left of frame is part of the bottling plant.

The bottom of the falls near the historic brewery.

Now for some video. That is the handrail near the first bridge on the trail. I saw it the day before and it wasn’t blocked like it is here.

Went to #Tumwater Falls yesterday to see what the rain had done and it was nuts. Driving the apprentice to school today I saw a lot of flooding in low valley areas #olympia #weather

I’m alone on Thanksgiving (besides my addled familiar) and I’m doing some really cool things with food and a substance that is legal here in Washington. That’s right fresh herbs. Like rosemary, thyme, sage and even mint. You know we love some basil too. And cabbage. Of course gotta have cabbage.

Working on building a #terrarium portfolio for my table to give people inspirations for their kits and to advertise my skill for custom setups and terrarium parties/classes.

I’m in touch with my #phytomancy from my grandfather, who was a pioneer in his field of telephony, but had a great passion for plants, specifically Saintpaulia and #Schlumbergera. My Thanksgiving rescue schlumbergera is blooming, and it’s a time of the year I look forward to.

Random inspiration struck this week and I found time to build two #terrariums. The first jar initially gave me Zelda for some reason, the driftwood is meant to evoke Ganon’s horns rotting in the woods somewhere. The pumkin one is for my wife’s desk at work, with a driftwood hand emerging!

By all accounts my familiar is at or slightly below 20 years old & she’s started to go blind over the last week. She can navigate our home, but takes her sweet time. She’s trying out echolocation in the middle of the night so I’m stocked on energy potions today. It’s gonna be rough when she goes :(

Recently learned simple book binding to work on this project. Broke through some artist’s block, too! I’m super proud how the cover and the page design turned out. I still need to make the different section separators, but soon my small #terrarium #journal /tracker will be available locally!

Scored some B-C grade chanterelles on our every other month H-Mart visit. Making mushroom stroganoff so visual quality don’t matter, but excited to have the opportunity to #cook with them! We prefer this version to beef, so this will only make it level up a bit more than normal.

Working on another plant stand but this idea is trickier than I’ve tried so I’m going slow.

Working on a new #houseplant stand! Going for a sort of road side shrine to a road side deity of some sort. Trying to make the shrine seem otherworldly so I’m gonna likely do a blue iridescent wash over the gunmetal. The back will look like a normal rock, acting as contrast to the front face :)
