Louis’ original and Iz’ rendition are two songs that can set my heart right when I’m down about almost anything.

Learning and accepting this truth, and that it applies to people/places as well, was the biggest breakthrough therapy ever brought me.

I am all I’ll ever truly need. I am also the only one whose presence I am entitled to. And I am enough. The people that come (or go) are the icing, not the cake.

Song lyrics, (some) movie/tv dialogue never leaves. Ex.: I recently caught Straight Up by Paula Abdul on the radio before my phone connected I still had all of the lyrics. It’s easily been 30 years since I heard or sang it. Names fade before faces do. A bit of quiet contemplation helps me find it.

Those are definitely stronger memories (faster, more detailed recall). But I also remember a lot that strangers or coworkers say/do, even if I only hear/see it as a bystander and not an active participant. As I said, it’s not perfect though. I gauge it at about 75-80% accurate and/or complete.
