Tree moss, Pseudevernia furfuracea, is one of the most common lichens in Finland as it grows also on pine trees that are everywhere here. Apothecia on tree moss are very rare sight, this old tree moss from Ähtäri had stunning apothecia with a beautiful color

Ramalina fraxinea (Cartilage lichen in English and Isorustojäkälä in Finnish) is common in south Finland (also in my neighbourhood forests in Mustikkamaa), but becomes pretty rare further north you go. It is sensitive to airpollution.

This one had striking apothecia (fruiting bodies).

Wolf’s milk (Lycogala epidendrum) got split to 15 new species a couple of years ago.

I recently spotted these. I havent learned to ID the new species yet, but these had a few characteristics that could allow to narrow the species: spotty surface, seems to grow also in groups, spores purple/pinkish

On a morning stroll, encounter a dead tree that was covered with a translucent film.

IDer on iNat indicated this could be caused by Ermine Moths.

Bird photos are hard with just a mobile phone camera, but sometimes, when they don’t notice you, you can get a great shot by sneaking closer.

Slimemold season is still strong in Finland. I found these three on my morning nature stroll around Mustikkamaa, Helsinki.
