if arsenal win the league cup or fa cup this year, i promise you that the "arteta needs a trophy" thing will continue as if the trophy hadn't been won. the views of these people are not responsive to reality

with position player limits, this looks like an invincible record. pretty cool

this rocks

a's got four pinch hit hits last night. seems like a lot? wonder what the record is.

i'd be interested to see eze's heatmaps vs. trossard's. if eze's going to be holding down LW i'd imagine it'd look more trossardy than martinelli-y, if that makes sense. trossard occupies the left half space a fair bit more, no?

i guess if you're team "arsenal need structural attacking changes" you should probably be for this move, just because it seems like that's what fitting him in would require

i was pretty out on president donald trump after i googled "donald trump epstein" but now since i've googled "donald trump tariffs" i'm back in

weird. i thought we lost it last week but then won it on saturday? these things changes pretty quickly these days
August 11, 2025 at 1:28 PM
we had a bit of zubi as your patented "higher 8 jorginho vs liverpool 2024" going on...
August 9, 2025 at 6:41 PM
what was our average expected threat created per match last year? we've been over 5 a couple times in the preseason, seems like a ton
August 9, 2025 at 6:17 PM
looking forward to this one. feel like the consensus narrative is "we can't score ourselves out of draws" which isn't untrue, but we also coughed up so many leads to get there. that latter part in particular drove me crazy. best defense in the league but situationally disappointing
August 6, 2025 at 12:58 PM
we looked pretty uninterested but scott's numbers were helpful in showing that spurs did absolutely nothing the whole match, even less than we did. even when we're bad, the other side is usually worse.

agree with the other commenters on the saudi stuff. it's funny that the official declaration of his interest in leaving occurred immediately after his two biggest suitors finalized signings at his position

chloe kelly is so cold
July 17, 2025 at 10:03 PM
i was going to joke that he might be right in the sense that donald trump knows what one of them is but i don't actually think he knows what either of them is, despite his performance last night
July 14, 2025 at 5:24 PM
i saw this pic too and had the exact same thought. jfc man

every single player is absolutely jacked also
July 14, 2025 at 2:20 PM
i worked out the math sketchily with football reference and he was at ~385 minutes on the left with 0 g/a, 1.8xg, and .3xag. not too far off where he was normally, actually. but i have the same concerns that you do
July 10, 2025 at 9:30 PM
are you aware of any studies about the drop off in a player's numbers when they switch from their "dominant" wing to the other one? (i'm curious if having your dominant foot as your inside foot is makes for better statistics broadly speaking)
July 10, 2025 at 4:23 PM
i'm with you, but i don't entirely see the vision with him being primarily at RW. amazing saka backup, perhaps too amazing and expensive, given that there are needs elsewhere. wondering what his minutes split would be between the wings and whether his output would be stable across them
July 10, 2025 at 4:16 PM
fair enough. i think i'm a little more optimistic about rodrygo scoring more in his preferred position and also about our getting more goals from those we have already. saka was 10 off his total from two years ago, havertz four, for instance. but i see your point!
July 9, 2025 at 6:27 PM
i think so, yes. i'd happily play rodrygo through the middle when kai rests. liverpool didn't play with a real striker for most of the year. psg converted a winger. i think the value of another attacker who is nominally a striker is overrated. especially given the prices and profiles available. imo.
July 9, 2025 at 3:15 PM
i also think the first three you listed (havertz, jorghinho, sterling) should be held apart from the others, because they involved the regime currently in charge of chelsea. and if the hypothesis is that chelsea inefficiency makes for arsenal opportunity, those three show that
