Similar vein to my other thread, most people have no idea that the training is the most damaging aspect of LLMs from the standpoint of the environment and ethical implications (theft).

and policing each other as individuals is a distraction from the quiet continuation of abuse by corporations. You need to use your own judgement. The alternative to sponsorships as income for someone of your talent is to have your skills used to continue the aforementioned abuse as an employee.

The argument that other website builders are not wasting energy is completely false. LLM development has been largely done unethically, and the current economic shitshow is both misguided and unjust, but people have no actual understanding of what is causing harm and how. Getting into arguments ..

The average person has no idea how much energy waste has gone on behind the scenes in the SaaS industry for years and years before ChatGPT was even a thing. The amount of unnecessary repetition of test suites, build stages, and gross over-provisioning of infra just to name a few things.

I always answer with "Hello?" if my phone doesn't warn me about possible scams. Otherwise, I use call screening. Almost never receive a call from a person I know anymore.
