Nah, for once he is telling the truth. All those countries would betray each other without hesitation if it benefitted them. They are not true allies. Only in it while it benefits them.

NATO täyttää tarkoituksena niin pitkään kun Putin uskoo NATOn toimivuuteen.

American people chose Trump. Things can always get worse. Even in Iran.

3,5% puolustusmenot + 1,5% infra mikä tukee puolustusta. Eli kaikki Lapin infrahankkeet voidaan laskea osaksi tuota 1,5 prosenttia.

If Russia falls into a civil war everyone needs to just put up their fences and let the fire burn down itself. No one else needs to get involved.

Sure, because Russia is so great at fighting climate change. You know who the biggest polluter of the Baltic sea is? Russia. Even though it has just a tiny sliver of Baltic sea coastline.

I think that any kind of nukes may be a red line for China. That is why Putin only threatens with them and doesn't use them. China's support depends on Russia not actually using nukes.

Trump wants to isolate, so he gets isolation.

You do realize that we are supposed to be the better people? The side that actually keeps its promises.

News tomorrow: Rain is wet.

People used to say that in 2022. No use to support Ukraine, war will be over in few months, tanks and fighter jets wont even make it to the battlefield.

This may very well drag on for few years more.

Sam Ryder got 183 televotes in 2022. You should be happy with that for the next decade at least 🤣

If Estonians, or anyone, think they have a case to be made and a right to inspect then the vessel needs to be inspected. No matter how many fighter jets there are. NATO has enough of own jets nearby.

Nah. 80+ approval ratings for politicians are always suspicious. You are treading very close to a hero worshipping at that point. Or poll/opinion manipulation.

It can be understood in this case because Ukraine is at war and everyone rallies together.
May 14, 2025 at 10:01 AM
True, but the first line of defense is always the country's own military. That has to be strong.

NATO is not some separate force that suddenly springs up when something happens. It is the active militaries of all the member nations put together.

Bilateral agreements are necessary. With NATO, EU, etc. There is always one or two bad eggs messing up the consensus needed to actually get something done. Hungary, Slovakia. USA.

So fate of Ukraine is same as Finland's after WW2.

Finland held off against Russia, but had to pay huge reparations and lost land to Russia.

Even the remote off-switch would not be a problem if the commitment from USA to NATO and it's partners would be ironclad. But Trump has trashed that trust.
April 2, 2025 at 10:55 AM
Big selling point for US made weapons has been that they have implied to have come with security commitment from USA.

That doesn't seem to be the case. It may even be the opposite. There may be security risks involved with US made weapons.

Europe needs to explore other options.

I honestly didn't even know that the ceasefire had actually started yet. Didn't Putin say that the terms were unacceptable just last week?

Russia never joined the treaty. What does it matter if Finland does not have mines at their side of border if Russia mines their side. Bears don't care about borders. It's the same forest for them on both sides of the border. So both sides may as well be mined.
