Each outward arc represents successive generations of SARS-CoV-2, and the increasing density and branching near the present (outer ring) demonstrates that new variants are emerging faster over time, not slower.

NB.1.8.1 has now been sequenced in Austalia, Canada, China, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This is rapidly spreading around the world.

It's just getting started in most places. This is an early heads up.

LP.8.1 is now dominant in the U.S. and around the world, but in Hong Kong, NB.1.8.1 outcompeted LP.8.1 and became the dominant variant in just 2 months.

It's highly evolved and extremely immune evasive.
