They know that with the audience they care about, hearing an agreeable lie several times before they hear the truth means their audience will default to the agreeable lie. Being first is essential. Being accurate is immaterial.

Getting it first is all that matters. Look up "Illusory Truth Effect". For a significant portion of America, they get their "news" from social media and Fox News. Illusory Truth Effect tells us that what they hear first, and if it repeated a few times, 3/5

or even a perfunctory effort to understand what had transpired. One respected commentator mused you'd think they would want to wait a bit and get it right as not to be embarrassed when they are proved to be wrong. Getting it right was not the point. It never is with these folks. 2/5

A whole generation of young people are growing up to hate ICE and BP. Good chance the antagonism will undeservedly spill over to local law enforcement.

Other news outlets will be covering it extensively and provide as much info as they can. If I check back with Fox 12, 24, 36 hours later they will have a whole list of talking points very specific, very biased, or outright false. They will then repeat them over and over and over for days. 2/3
