It's in the now long forgotten graveyard of a huge POW camp - 100 huts, 6,000 prisoners - at Stobs Castle, south of Hawick in the Scottish Borders.

The memorial was funded by a performance of Strauss & Offenbach at the camp on Easter Monday 1917.

Fun fact: this is probably the second or third oldest WW1 memorial in Scotland, after the Grand Fleet Roman Catholic Officers and Men memorial on Hoy (1916) and the Newhills Parish and District - Landmark Indicator (June 1917)
