Recently, I was patriotic & hoped that my country truly championed liberty, equality and the pursuit of happiness. I look back at a citizen who believed in government “by the people” & “for the people.” But I was holding on to promises from another age. A “shining city on a hill” has gone dark.

With age, some minds fossilize. Instead of being alive with youthful curiosity and vigor, their thinking solidifies into stony shapes: rigid ideologies, frozen caricatures of prejudice and disinformation under heavy layers of ignorance. Their opinions are inert relics trapped in Paleozoic sediment.
