Some dunce of a bird made this barely functional 'nest' like two feet off the ground by my back door. Bird. Seriously. If you're not spooked into (almost) kicking your own eggs out of the nest every time I walk past the back door, you're gonna get eaten by the neighbours' cat.
Plan better.🦉

This lil mudlark came hopping up to me out of the grass. He couldn't fly. I called my auntie who volunteers as a wildlife rescue person, and she said to (gently) catch him and bring him in. He practically hopped into my hands. 🦉

This guy got himself stuck under the roof on the back porch. He's about 7cm, or a little less than 3 inches long and made a heck of a racket with his clattery wings. #invertibrate

Look at this clever lad. He refuses to drop the forceps. He's certain they're food. (In case you're worried; He eventually let them go. It just took him a long time to realise they weren't edible) 🐍

Found this large praying mantis on my clothes horse. It tried to escape down between the cracks in the floor but was rather too large to do it in a dignified manner. #insect#invertebrate

I just discovered there's a setting you can turn on that won't let you post until you put the alt text on your photo. I'm so glad it exists because omg my brain is not good at remembering to do all these steps. Photo of some cute dogs that followed me home one day as tax. #disability

Gil is a rescue, and has anxiety issues. I have to put new objects into Gil's enclosure one at a time so he has a chance to adjust. The first time he saw a real honest stick from a tree it took 6 weeks before he was brave enough to *touch* it. It took less than a week for him to touch this basket 🐍

Because sometimes you just need a snake in your hair to finish your outfit. Also, I thought regular selfies were hard. Taking a clear photo of the back of my own head is a feat I'll not likely recreate.

This raven came to say hi while I rested on a bench near the store. His friend was nearby, but nowhere near brave enough to sit on the bench with me. 🦉

This lil' guy always wants to be right in the middle of whatever I'm doing. If he's not tangling my embroidery thread, he's knocking the scissors off the table. At least he doesn't have hands, or I'm sure he'd try to use the scissors. 🐍

I was given a teapot set for Saturnalia; there's this gorgeous little wren inside the cup. The problem is that filling the cup drowns the wren, but pouring any amount that lets him breathe is Not Enough Tea. I feel sad filling the cup, but happy once I've drunk enough to get his head above water.

This goofball is being a flibertygibbet today. She's like; No! I don't want the snacks! I'm gonna knock the bag out of your hand! But YOU BETTER GIMME THE SNACKS!
Make up your mind, miss. 🦎

This guy thinks he's a bulldozer. No exit there? Just shove until there is an exit. You can see the fruit of his exit strategy in the background- the basket with a gaping hole. The real exit is 2 inches away from the hole he made. 🦎

This guy keeps destroying the plants in his enclosure that give him places to hide, then gets anxious when I open the enclosure to fix them because he doesn't have anywhere to hide until I've fixed some. He's not very clever. 🐍
