i want this platform to flourish, i want it to be good. i want to see it succeed. i'm willing to invest more of my time into it despite all my friends being over on twitter still. but i don't know how long it'll last, and i blame that entirely on dev incompetence.

that it sucks so much people will stay here for days at a time, maybe a few weeks if they're lucky, and end up leaving anyway because it's so lackluster. bluesky is a great art gallery and a middling social media. that's how i feel about it after all the chances i've tried to give it.

how many times has it happened now? 2, 3, 4? and yet it's failed every time? why is that. how much of it is the fault of the users, and how much of it is the fault of the platform itself. i think a lot of people on bsky seriously fail to acknowledge the latter. that it just kind of sucks here.

i blame bluesky for having an algorithm so garbage that users had to band together to create a tolerable "for you" feed. i blame bluesky for having yet to introduce basic features that user actually ask for. i blame bluesky for failing to capitalize on the masses that have attempted to move from twt

but from a fundamental pov, bluesky as a social media platform is still in its infancy & sucks ass a lot, so much so that people would STILL rather use elon's intolerant, hate-filled, ai-plagued twitter. do we realize how ridiculous that is. maybe it's not the fault of users but of the developers.

you can whine about ethics all you want but bluesky's moderation & censorship is not much better than twitter's, especially in regard to palestinian voices & content. the refusal to commit is partially a user-based problem, sure, some people struggle with change, meshing well here, etc.

the average twitter user is not sated by continuing to use twitter. no one wants ad revenue going in elon's pockets, no one is happy with the vitriolic and overwhelming amount of bigotry on that platform. & yet people still refuse to commit here. again, you have to wonder why this is.
