Southern Company: The Administration is so great. The new nuclear deal is amazing. So promising!

Investor: Does the federal government's new $80 billion agreement make you more likely to build new nuclear?

Southern Company: No.

Georgia Commissioner Tim Echols says regulators will reduce Georgia Power's fuel costs by "$16 next year".

But Ga. Power's own data shows that it is UNDER RECOVERED by almost $1 billion on fuel costs.

Either he's flat wrong or we're in store for another election year gimmick.

This is some of the nastiest work I've ever seen.

Taking customer money collected for federal income taxes and instead sending it to shareholders.

Georgia Power wants to hide from the public:

1. Cost of its expansion plan
2. How much power big users will need
3. How much each customer class might need to pay
4. The types of power plants it will need
5. Assumptions it uses
6. Info on major outages
7. Transmission costs

Another big nuclear trip from TVA. Looks like Sequoyah 1 and 2 went back offline yesterday.

Unit 2 had just come back online.

“Relentless focus on affordability,” says Georgia Power.

That focus must be relentlessly ineffective.

Georgia’s utility bills are now among the highest in the country.

Words are cheap. Bills aren’t.

New rate increase thanks to Duke Energy!

Can anyone point me to an example in the last, I don't know, 10 years where a utility has gone out to the market for equity and the markets said no?

Even in cases like PG&E and FirstEnergy, utilities mired in scandal and bankruptcy, raised equity.

Turns out an Entergy nuclear plant tripping caused rolling blackouts in MISO South.

Fill out the form. We’ll try again tomorrow. ☀️🌬️

The oil and gas industry continues to make a mockery of itself.

When it can’t blame renewables, it resorts to personal attacks on the one commissioner who has fought to increase capacity.

Southeastern utilities have made a multi-decade mockery of transmission planning. Now they act all shockedPikachu.gif that someone calls them out on it.

Outgoing director of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management says Alabama's environment better off than when he started 15 years ago.

He's right.

But not because of him. Because the federal government made him.

Hey Georgia Power, how's that wonderfully designed solar program going?

~sells 1 block (out of 8,000) to 1 customer in 2 years~

PJM prioritizing gas but real data shows that batteries get online a year faster than gas.

Southern Company talked a big game about its values after the Jan. 6 attempted insurrection.

Turns out that was always bunk.

Louisiana's Jacob Landry (R), looks to define "affordable energy source" as only hydrocarbons with year-round availability.

Interestingly, his own definition may exclude natural gas considering the provision on "stable and predictable cost".

Also, Dale Strong just lied?? about the IRA and its impact on the Tennessee Valley, including the 5th district.

Here are just 3 projects totaling almost $1.5 billion in new investment and almost 1000 new jobs.

IN HIS DISTRICT!

Dale says these people don't matter.
April 22, 2025 at 11:11 PM
My dolt of a representative, Dale Strong, finally responded today, essentially saying that ending LIHEAP is somehow good, I guess?

And he seems unable to tell the difference between the IRA plus up $ and regular LIHEAP $, around since Reagan.

This is the 5th district's best and brightest???

Look at all these woke companies like Exxon, Dow, and Monsanto are opposing Entergy and Meta's "sketchy" attempt to build more than 2 GW of new gas and stick regular customers with a huge part of the bill.
