It is as if AI enthusiasm is causing proponents to forget (and therefore need to relearn the hard way) all of the lessons of the history of computing.

I am finding this talk of AI agents as digital employees to be more than a little specious. These agents are tools for work. They cannot be held accountable. Human operators must be held accountable for everything that is done by the agents they deploy. Full stop.
