I don't think people enjoy competing in a market for everyday goods. Most people probably don't like gaming the market for anything and human needs are not meant to be commodities - like housing and healthcare.

It's as though economists are aware that increasing the working class' ability to spend is good for everyone, but the point just doesn't pull into the garage. Decisions are not intentionally made to improve the situation. Why are our leaders acting like bystanders?

Declining sales as low priced items are not competing in the market and customer buying power falls, they decide to double down on higher priced goods fewer people can afford. At the same time, firing people because their business model doesn't work.

Society is pooling resources to achieve more than you can independently. Infrastructure is the most basic function of a government. This should be the majority of what we are paying for, not a rare win in a fight against oligarchs.
