Takin’ On Sports
@takinonsports.bsky.social
A sports podcast from The Alabama Take, where the takes are mild and tone is laid back. Weird for a sports pod, we know. Hosted by @td2kool.bsky.social & Greg, catch us every Monday.

New episode is up, we cover the CFP first round, look ahead to the quarterfinals, talk some NFL, FCS, NBA, transfer portal and more.

This we week we have a chill episode…

Yeah, right. We talk about the mess in Ann Arbor, the end of an era in Salt Lake City, and why reporters are lazy when it comes to Kalen DeBoer.

We also look ahead to the CFP’s 1st round, talk NFL, Bama hoops, John Cena, and more.

This shit is tiring.

Greg Byrne is not firing anyone after 2 seasons, he’s not an idiot.

As for “DeBoer feeling the pressure” - that’s what he signed up for, that’s what he wanted when he CHOSE to replace Nick Saban.
Sherrone Moore's exit opens up the top job at one of college football’s most storied programs, and at an unusual point in the postseason calendar.

Who could replace him at Michigan?

Show is up, and we maybe might just talk a little tiny bit about the CFP bracket. Specifically, why Notre Dame can kick rocks, what it means for the future, and acknowledging that Alabama both deserved and didn't deserve a spot. Other things, too.

Welp, That's One Way To Do It | The Alabama Take - Compositions, Podcasts, and Miscreants
You'd think we'd show some humility about backing into the College Football Playoff... but nah, we're Bama fans, that ain't our style. The SEC Championship game...

Yes, congrats to @brianoliu.bsky.social for winning the confidence points pool, and congrats to the winner of our spread pool… my mother.

I will never hear the end of this.

NFL catch rules are just the dumbest thing.
December 7, 2025 at 9:07 PM
First half story is UGA wants it bad and Bama... well I'm not sure if they're not motivated or just tired, but either way that's as flat a team as I've seen all year.

Time for DeBoer to show what kind of in-game coach he is.
December 6, 2025 at 10:52 PM
I cannot stress how much I do not like this man.

"Why? You're an Alabama fan and he's just doing what's best for the SEC???"

No, he's doing what's best for his bank account, plain and simple. If he gets his way we'll have a 40-team NFL Lite and college football will be officially dead.

Since we recorded, UCLA hired Bob Chesney away from James Madison, Kentucky fired Mark Stoops and hired Oregon OC Will Stein to replace him, and now this.

Yet, Penn State still doesn’t have a coach.
SOURCES: Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman is considering retirement, with Texas A&M OC Collin Klein a target to fill the job, @theathletic.com has learned.

Klein is a former K-State QB and Heisman finalist. The Manhattan Mercury first reported.

Gee, I wonder what we spend most of our time talking about on this week’s show?

Another Iron Bowl heart attack, Kalen DeBoer’s big ol’ watermelon sized balls, Rivalry Week, the Lane Train leaves Oxford for Baton Rouge and sets the coaching carousel in motion, Championship week, NFL, and more.
December 1, 2025 at 3:23 PM
We discussed all of the conference title game scenarios on this week's show, so let's see how everything is going.

ACC: Miami won, but still needs a lot of help to get in. UVA and SMU just need to win.

American: UNT is in, Tulane is in and hosts with a win. Navy won and needs Tulane to lose.

This week we go over conference title scenarios in college football, talk about the NFL heating up, react live to Bama hoops’ loss to Gonzaga, and have word for the CFP committee and Dan Lanning.

Oregon's non-conference schedule this season: Montana State (FCS), Oklahoma State (1-10), Oregon State (2-9).

And, just for fun, let's look at the Ducks' future OOC opponents:

Come on, we're really reviewing this?
November 20, 2025 at 4:28 AM
We don’t typically like to talk about the CFP rankings this early, but after this week’s rankings and the comments by Hunter Yurachek, I think we’re gonna have to take a few minutes on them this week.
November 19, 2025 at 8:22 PM
OK, show is editing and published. Things we yap about: Sooners, Dawgs, Aggies all have get big wins, the Pels and Mavs win by losing, Josh Allen goes nuts, and other stuff, too.
November 18, 2025 at 4:42 AM
We did record last night, but I didn’t get editing finished. Unfortunately I’ll be on the road today, so won’t get the show post until later tonight.

We talk a frustrating Bama loss, conference races, rare good news for our NBA teams, and more.
November 17, 2025 at 4:59 PM
This week's show covers Alabama's 13th win in the past 15 games over LSU, Indiana surviving a scare in Happy Valley with world class catches, the ACC race, Bama hoops getting a big road win, the NFL, NBA, and more.

The fact that Nebraska/UCLA is a conference game is just disgusting.

A big ole middle finger to everyone involved in making that happen.

This week we revel in the stress free environment of a bye week. Topics: the ESPN/YouTube TV mess, the end of the Hugh Freeze era, some Saturday upsets, Arch’s best game, State gets an SEC win (!), a weekend of superb QB performances in the NFL, a great World Series, and more.

Before y’all get mad at YouTube for this Disney thing, remember that ESPN just dropped a subscription service - this is 100% a move to try to get you to drop YTTV and fork over $$$ directly to Disney/ESPN. Also worth remembering the ESPN is objectively shitty.

Show is up and we compare the heart attacks we had on Saturday afternoon, talk about how A&M is the real deal, discuss the Brian Kelly era ending in Baton Rouge, heap praise on Willie Fritz, and there’s also NFL, World Series, NBA (on and off court), and more.
