Yea that's very fair. I haven't encountered any problems with it, and I'm sure that's just boilerplate "hey, we need this app to interact with memory on the phone without a bunch of popup confirmations", but I agree it reads malicious.

I have Obsidian connected to my Google Drive via an app called DriveSync. I think it has a free version, but also a one-time purchase expands functionality.

Absolutely yeah, it's harder and harder to find good dry samples. I wonder if it's because a great majority of packs are just regurgitating up existing sounds run through filters instead of creating something genuinely new.

I've found loads of really cool and interesting sample packs on the Internet Archive. Like, sample CDs from the 90s and other wild things. You gotta dig a bit, but there's cool stuff to be found out there!

To be fair, Fiverr has always been a slop machine. Just before generative models, people used templates and scripts to poop stuff out with little intervention from the "artist".
There are genuine artists on there, of course, but it feels the majority are people who automated the process.

I have a strong feeling the end goal of this is for tech to stay out of the hands of consumers. Tech companies only sell to other tech companies, who will then rent out computer time to consumers.
Everyone wants to be a landlord SO BAD.
