As BlueSky has just hit 20mil users, we thought we'd introduce ourselves!

We're the Talyllyn Railway - running from Tywyn on the Welsh Coast up into the mountains towards Abergynolwyn & Nant Gwernol.

In 1951 we became the World's First Preserved #Railway, starting the Heritage Railway movement!

14th May 1951 - Bill Trinder, one of our founding members, cuts the ribbon infront of the inaugural train of the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society!

We are thankful to the North Wales and Mid & West Wales Fire Service for attending the scene, with the incident now resolved.

We will be open as normal tomorrow, with three train services departing Tywyn Wharf.

We have had a small incident this evening at Wharf Station involving a fire in the Guard's Room - thankfully no one has been hurt.

Our final train service for today was terminated at Pendre, a huge thank you to the passengers for being so understanding of the situation.

Molly the Horse put on a great show over the weekend, hauling a TR slate waggon by horse-power for the first time since 1946 - an often forgotten part of the TR story!

'Midlander' can be seen with a rake of tipper wagons between Abergynolwyn & Nant Gwernol - these were essential in the construction of the extension, carrying earth & rock away from blasting sites.
