I am reaching new people on here, so hi! I'm a Pokemon Content creator for 18 years, I talk about retro games and toys. My videos are here:
www.youtube.com/@Tama-Hero

I make essays analyzing the Pokemon RPGs and in between I make "feral" videos where I info dump about my special interests.

I was curious about it for its original art style though, since it was the same designer as Moon. The remake won't have that

Oh... this isn't on NSO?? But Paper Mario is 😭

no time right now :(

I forgot but today is my YouTube channel's 19th anniversary.
Next year is the big 2 0

All there is to do is put into perspective that there ARE people who want to see what I make, take a break to recharge and then get going on the next one.

It should be the algorithms job to serve content to people who might be interested, and if it fails to do that it's kind of out of your control. Sometimes good art just doesn't find its audience even with the best intentions and effort put into marketing it. Just look at Earthbound.

When YT decides that people didn't like it, it tells you "oh this one tanked because your viewers aren't interested in it, not because we're testing an AI recommendation feature and views are down sitewide." If the feedback is "people aren't interested" it feels like the solution is to stop sharing.

Really grateful for people who support the content on Patreon/YT channel memberships. The YT algo is just so unpredictable sometimes, I would feel so discouraged if I spent a lot of time and energy making something only for the algo to bury it.

This is gonna feel too easy after Earthbound & Moon then

Dang if this was Emerald it would come back, but in RS that's a goner :(

Am I gonna need a guide for Super Mario RPG or can I just dive right in

It's so poetic in like a weird neat way that Sega's mascot was a character who famously goes fast and then all of their games in that series either couldn't get off the ground or were impacted horribly by the constant rushing to try to get games out by specific holidays.

Watching Chris Senn interviews about Sonic X-Treme where in one section he talks about how they fired an artist for leaving at 5:30pm and complaining about overworking, and then in the next section explains that the game was canceled when Chris Senn and Christina Coffin got sick from overworking.

tbf I never played Colors or Frontiers but heard good things about both. Forces was the main thing I was thinking of for boring.

For me boost hasn't really been that engaging until Sonic x Shadow. It's flashier but less fun.

It's a shame 06 was such a trash fire because it revived a lot of what I liked about Adventure, it was just also mostly unplayable. And then they really never returned to the idea after that.
tamahero.bsky.social
Yeah I imagine a lot changed about who was making what following the end of the Dreamcast. So I get that.

There are certainly worse 3D Sonic games but I still don't really understand why Heroes departed so completely from Adventure when both 1 & 2 did well and were well received.

Sonic Heroes was a weird follow up for the Adventure series. Some people really love it but even as a 3D Sonic fan I was never on board. I wanted another game more similar to Adventures and Heroes was fully its own (worse) thing.

Any good podcasts about Sega's corporate politics in the 90s?
tamahero.bsky.social
It's amazing that any Sonic games were ever released after Sonic 2

I love reading about Sega Technical Institute. I can just read about them for days. Why was Sega like that?

3rd entry is not conveniently available to me in English, Beginnings is on NSO
