There’s more new gold stuff on the colonnade at the White House. New since this morning. So many pieces of flair.

Very excited to get my friend John Davis’s new book in the mail. As someone who was also introduced to punk rock through mix tapes in the 90s, this is a fun read.

President Trump is hosting his first event in the newly decked-out Rose Garden tonight. Here’s my story about the renovation and the history of the iconic garden (turned patio). Trump makes over the Rose Garden, Mar-a-Lago style

Mark Knoller truly was a legend, a White House correspondent I was very lucky to work alongside. Even long after he retired, Mark would pull up his word doc of presidential statistics when I needed help for a story. He is going to be so sorely missed. www.cbsnews.com/news/mark-kn...
Mark Knoller, longtime CBS News correspondent, dies at 73
Mark Knoller was, to put it simply, a legend. For decades, everyone in the White House press corps knew him as the unofficial presidential historian and statistician.

A lot of people have been asking how to help public radio/TV weather this current storm. One of my concerns has been making sure the most vulnerable stations that serve small populations in rural areas get the support they need to keep going. This new site offers a roadmap. adoptastation.org
Adopt A Station - Rescue Public Media
Help preserve independent journalism and community programming across America by adopting a public media station. Congress has voted to rescind public media's funding.

The annual @cwsoftballgame is coming up on July 16. This year I am playing for my friend Dr. Patricia Gaffney, who has metastatic breast cancer. The game raises money for the @youngsurvivalcoalition, which helps young women facing breast cancer. Buy tix: www.gofevo.com/event/2025CWSG

The Rose Garden demolition is underway. “We’re going to put a beautiful stone surface down so that people -- for instance, we had something the other day and it actually didn't rain for three or four days and the women were still getting stuck in the grass,” Trump said May 4.

NEW on @npr.org | 'What did you do last week' email update

-Federal agencies split on suggested compliance
-one says to assume responding "will be read by malign foreign actors"
-OPM issues belated guidance suggesting it's "voluntary"
-which contradicts Musk/Trump's nonresponse = risking job
Trump administration backs off requiring response to "What did you do last week?" email
"No one knows what we are supposed to do," said one federal employee amid conflicting and shifting directives on whether to comply with Elon Musk's directive to list five accomplishments.
