First a little couch standoff, now sleeping with one paw touching. Seems like Seamus had a nice birthday, even if the kitten keeps stealing his toys.

He’s a bit fluffier now as he fills out, but still as sassy and sweet as the day I brought him home, when he was a year and a half or so old. Here’s Seamus with his birthday present/new partner in crime.

The Brothering continues. Finn is settling in, and Seamus looks exhausted about it, but they’re getting along very well. As soon as I took this, they started running around together again.

This week I am introducing a kitten to my five year old cat who was far more lonely than I think either of us realized until the little guy arrived. Good lessons in why we need friends.

The Friendmaking has begun. So far, Seamus has shared his toys, attempted to eat kitten food, and generally been wonderful. Our small friend is pending a name change as the name he was granted isn’t quite a fit, but seems eager for a playmate. Wish us luck!

My 20 MONSTERS from childhood, Day 18/20: Tim Curry probably shouldn't count as a monster, but he does! The Lord of Darkness ("big D") even, from Legend (1985).

My 20 MONSTERS from childhood, Day 17/20: I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Mummy remakes of my adulthood, but for my *childhood,* there is a brooding Boris Karloff in that spot.

My 20 MONSTERS from childhood, Day 16/20: Thulsa Doom, both in his final snaky form and in his human guise, played by James Earl Jones in Conan the Barbarian (1981). Most of my monsters are movie monsters but that makes sense - monster movies with my dad were a childhood staple.

And we lost a few days to monstrosity in the real world (of a kind we don't want to memorialize in posts), but here we go again: My 20 MONSTERS from childhood, Day 15/20: Not sure Rell the cyclops counts as a monster, but he made quite an impression on me in Krull (1983), the film where he appeared.

My copy arrived today and it looks terrific!
