Nurse here and I can confirm the murder of Alex PrettI is *personal.* I feel this so deeply. One Minnesota woman articulated so well that we have always followed Mr. Rogers advice in crisis to look for the helpers. Now the helpers have a target their backs.

In case it’s helpful, when women are called back for additional screening, the likelihood they’ll find cancer is about 0.5%. So out of 200 women with an abnormal mammogram, 1 will actually have cancer and 199 will find out that everything is fine. Here’s hoping you’re one of the 199!

So sorry this happened! FWIW, when a woman has an abnormal mammogram, 0.5% will ultimately prove to be cancer. Which means 199 times out of 200 the subsequent work up shows “not cancer.” Here’s hoping you’re one of the 199!
