25 yrs teaching HS English in VERY RED district in FL. 2 AMAZING daughters. Empty-nester. Passionate about books, bees, & a better world. My dad and I build neighborhood libraries to spread literacy and build community. www.litInspired.com
"I'm your Huckleberry" still gets me 🫠 but my young girl era grew up on "Real Genius" 🫦 and "Top Secret." 😄 RIP Val Kilmer.

My dad (retired carpenter) & myself (HS Lit teacher) started building neighborhood libraries after the election. Needed to redirect our anger & sadness--wanted to do something positive using our 💙and🤝. We're starting to grow. Today we finished HIS library (he loves Dr. Seuss). Look at this talent.

I'm the sponsor of the Future Educators of America at my school. One of the joys of sponsoring clubs is constant fundraising. 😉 Last week my students spent the day teaching elementary children. They did an amazing job, teachers and students loved them, & they represented our school with excellence.

I’m a high school literature teacher in the district where the Moms for Liberty founder was my school board member. 🤪 my daughter sent me her “entries” today. 😂

After the election, my dad and I started making neighborhood libraries to save our sanity. 💙 Selling them already filled with books (many banned). Our first art/craft fair is this weekend. Wish us luck!Hoping to get them in neighborhoods all over this red state.

My classroom book talk today was: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.
7 books checked out for the day. (Pretty good considering my kiddos already have a heavy reading load in my class.)

Trying to do more “book talks” w/my students. I grab a book from the shelf and talk it up. Today’s choice came w/documentary to match. Would love DuVernay to do an update to 13th. Ended as Trump was running first time. These are definitely worth the read/watch. Probably be banned from sharing soon.

The texts I’m teaching this year. How much longer do you think I’ll “get away with it” even though it’s the Cambridge curriculum? Will we get rid of AP and Cambridge classes in HS so we can stop the wokeness. DeSantis did say that Florida is where wokeness goes to die. 🙄
