Sweaty Betty faces second slogan row T he activewear brand Sweaty Betty faces a second claim of "stealing" a slogan used in its advertising (Harriet Walker writes).whiff of something familiar about Sweaty Betty's publicity material,Nixi Body has used the phrase "keeping you moving through menstruation, motherhood and menopause" in its social media and on its packaging since its launch in 2019, Sweaty Betty launched its own FemTech range of period leggings in July last year with an Instagram campaign and weh page that included the phrase Last month a social media influencer claimed she had been "silenced by threats" from the company's legal team after it adopted one of her slogans without crediting her. Now the founder of the leak- proof pants and leggings brand Nixi Body has also said there is th Nixi Body's founder, Kelly Newton, 54, a former foster carer from Bromley, southeast London, launched her brand after experiencing premature menopause after a hysterectomy. She tried to trademark her taglines but was told she could not as they were too broad. ""It is never our intent to take credit for the work or creativity of others, particularly from trailblazing women, and we have reached out to Nixi Body directly to convey this. We have also been undertaking a review of all our campaigns and marketing language to fully understand the origins of the phrases we use ... such a reviewwas conducted with respect to the *wear the damr shorts' phrase and its origins date back to at least as early as 2019, before either Ms Cox or Sweaty Betty first used |it]. we continue to work towards a resolution with Ms Cox."
