Hi I'm tamm. Again.

People know me as an artist but I'm actually a huge toy person. Mostly imports, specifically really into gokin stuff and SRW lately.

I never know what to put in these but go look at my main it has cool art.

The level of engineering going into this, and to do it in a way that there's no paint scraping is just unbelievable. Matryoshka figures have always been an impossibility in my head, nothing should be able to pose well while being stacked internally. But this thing expertly pulls it off.
tammtoys.bsky.social
Baikanfu itself is just ridiculous. Difficult to pose and photograph due to the size, but almost as articulated as Kenryu. Only really loses knee articulation. Hips are insanely mobile and the whole upper body has so much range. This thing is just a marvel top to bottom. Can't believe it.
tammtoys.bsky.social
Kenryu is usually an afterthought with these sets, but it's fantastic here. The double jointed knees and thigh swivels make it so that really the only thing it feels like it's missing is drop hips, but Rom is in there. Ab crunch and swivel despite it being a matryoshka toy. Unreal.
tammtoys.bsky.social
Hilariously Rom might be the most enjoyable of the three purely because of how poseable he is at this scale. Barely 3" but explosive looking no matter what you do with him. Cool as all hell and almost makes me want just a regular 6" figure of him because of how good this looks.
tammtoys.bsky.social
This is why you play SRW right here, man. Stupid ass shit like Rom interrupting Asuka about to be killed to aura farm with his theme song.
tammtoys.bsky.social
This shit reprogrammed me from a kid who thought Gundam was cool to a teenager who knew super robots were the real shit. Completely opened my eyes to the wider genre, and a massive amount of that was just Rom and Baikanfu.

Can't describe the feeling of managing to get a hold of something like this.

I say it every time I get a Sentinel figure delivered, but man. Man. Vysaga is such a unique design, and this pulls it off perfectly. Same as Soulgain, only ratchets are in the knees, but the zero gimmicks, only pure posing ability is what makes this thing so damn fun to handle.

The Godaiken is just gorgeous, especially with how good it looks in the scabbard. The cape having 4 wires running down it makes it able to nail any flowing pose you want. Nothing risks scraping or getting in the way, it's all just easy and fun to handle. This and Soulgain are a new standard imo.

It's probably stupid, but slowly collecting these things I've coveted for so long feels like little affirmations that I've made it to some degree. My first comm money ever went to buying the Gigapower Dancouga, and after 15 years of work, I'm finally getting that Baikanfu. Unreal shit.

Always wanted a toy but never thought the SOC was worth it. Wanted the Vulcanlog but 90+ for a Revo was stupid. Saw the Pose+ and was enamoured, but I had just quit my job and started doing art. Now I've finally got to the point where I can afford it. Feels surreal. Don't know what to think, really.

Baikanfu is one of those special ones for me. When I was in grade 11 and really getting back into robot anime, I got SRW MX Portable on my PSP, and before I could read a word of Japanese I became infatuated with this thing. Real specific memories of hanging with my friends attached to it.

It's a weird feeling knowing in a few hours this will be in my hands. This is what I took those comms for. I've wanted this since the day it was announced, but it was way too expensive at release and then virtually nonexistent secondhand. My last real grail, and I'm gonna have it tomorrow.

I always tell people not to buy these kind of figures if you aren't ready to deal with how risky they can be with paint chipping, or how expensive they are, or how much knowledge it takes to handle them and pose them safely, but these last two RIOBOTs have been so good I'd recommend them to anyone.

DHL fucked me and I will (hopefully) be getting baikanfu tomorrow but HOUGH
tammtoys.bsky.social
getting my biggest grail of the past probably 6 years (and really since like 2007 when I deemed the SOC to be too crappy to bother) and also one of my top 5 OGs mecha on the same day is actually very annoying cause I'm gonna have to not open one but

hough

baikanfu and vysaga coming in today...

yeah everything he made in the mid-90s was so good

think it's really telling the oratorio tangram designs are generally worse and more busy and were kind of a prelude to his Unicorn and Narrative era stuff despite being so many years beforehand
tammtoys.bsky.social
speaking of Katoki being simply better when not designing Gundams
tammtoys.bsky.social
idk what it is about the EX-Exbein but god this thing is just too fucking cool

I get people not liking the T-Link Sliders but it's such a cool concept and the giant ass Ex-S style boosters fit it perfectly
tammtoys.bsky.social
Katoki is simply better when he's not designing Gundams

actually feels like Terada holding him back from the design aesthetics he was using around this era with Unicorn and Narrative to just make something (relatively) restrained in the Exbein series

questioning why this doesn't look that great in comparison to the Transformers and Mazinger nendos and it looks like this is designed by some guy named Dyson Max??

figured they'd go with Action Toys or Sentinel again considering how good theirs have been, this one honestly just looks like a plamo
