We have arrived! Two more little houses, and I ordered the genever-based Very High Fashioned cocktail with my meal. It was quite tasty, and I was especially impressed by how well it drank as it diluted. Now we are in a car to our hotel and Dehli traffic is living up to its reputation even at 3 am.

@libation-legacy.bsky.social dug up some research that says they never took quinine out of Lillet, they just lowered the sugar, and that the modern cocktailian lore about this is not true. Now, that said, I still prefer Cocchi in most contexts!

Have collected the first two little Dutch houses filled with Bols for this trip. Now boarding our AMS-Dehli flight where we'll collect the next two. Indian wedding here we come. And my first time zone that's off by 30 minutes!

Surprisingly good petnat in the KLM Lounge at Pearson. And an "interesting" liquor selection. I'm tempted to make a Rusty Nail...

Very much the case here! I've been struggling with this bottle for a while. Could have written something easy but bland, but it's definitely more fun to write the nerdy story instead.

Some tiny bottles take more research than others. I just finished writing up a bottle today that had me learning all about Russia in World War II, of all things!

Definitely on brand!

Awesome drink, but not tonight. I promised all new drinks for this upcoming online class, and I've included that a couple times before.

This house isn't really set up for bartending, but I'm going to do my best! First cocktail party in the Toronto house we're renting. I've got an absurd # of drinks I want to test, we'll see how many we get through!

"In late Sept, the soybeans begin to mature. As the days get shorter and the temperatures get cooler, the leaves on soybean plants begin to turn yellow. By mid-Oct and Nov, the leaves will turn brown and fall off, exposing the matured pods of soybeans. The soybeans are now ready to be harvested."

So many people in this thread saying things like "I'm not a farmer, isn't it too late?" I wonder if they also are not doctors but diagnose medical conditions too? Here, LMGTFY: ncsoy.org/media-resour...

This sign reminds me of some of the ones I see in Toronto. "Best jerk chicken in the Annex"

The "Vanilla Vigilante" has his hooks into The Sazerac Co. with a just-certified class-action suit over the red-hot malt-based line extension of the firm's whisky liqueur. This week at @vinepair.com, I laid out the stakes of that case for the beleaguered US brewing industry.

The other day, I filed an analysis for VinePair on the latest developments in the court-ordered receivership of Uncle Nearest, Inc., the high-flying Tennessee liquor firm that’s been laid low by the p...

Don't know if you're a podcast person, but the Buffering the Vampire Slayer pod is a super fun accompaniment to a rewatch.

And you don't have to take my word for it. Aron7140 says so too.
text from a comment on the video Tammy linked to. The poster is @aron7140, the comment was made 8 years ago, and it reads "I'm only 12 and never had alcohol but this is a cool story."

If you've never watched this video of John Martin telling the Smirnoff story, take the 15 minutes and do it! Such a great tale. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wola...

Finally got around to making this tonight and it was GREAT. Easy, delicious, not too sweet. I'll probably use chicken thighs next time because I like the texture better than chicken breast, but this is definitely going into my rotation!

The stock market has become fully divorced from the real economy. So yeah, I don't think they care. It's all being propped up by the AI bubble which doesn't seem to actually need consumers, so why would people matter?

Yeah, where I am we've got a few cold days but then it's warming up again for the weekend. Then I go to India, where "too cold" is not going to be a problem I have!

I haven't turned the heat on yet. But I have thought about it today!
