30 (she/her), materials engineer working in superconducting magnets for fusion energy. I blow up superconductors for fun and ride my bike, preferably in the mountains 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 🧲🚵‍♀️
Well damn, took two weeks but finally heard from my GP that PSCE told them they had been given the wrong information, so can finally get my records updated!

Just what I needed today, DVLA returned my licence application having apparently not noticed the licence I sent them in the package and are now expecting me to resubmit the application with an extra fee for the licence they lost. How is it possible for people to be so bad at their job?

And so the admin circles continue, gp now telling me that PCSE require a GRC or that surgery has been done, and once again literally everything published says yhe opposite and no one can apparently tell me where this rule is written, why is this so damn difficult?

Good start, reply from GP saying I need a gender recognition certificate to change gender marker, meanwhile the guidance literally explicitly says it's not required. I mean there's being crap at your job and then there's that

And so the endless admin quest continues! Switched GP practice my old one started fully ignoring me and finally got the drivers licence documents posted this morning, we're getting there!

Sun finally showed itself again after a week of grey so lovely to be out on the bike again. Oxfordshire is hilariously prone to flooding though so had a minor change of route when I hit this, I promise there's a road under it 😅

And this was pretty awesome, out for drinks in Oxford woth friends and decided to wear a dress this time, first time I've ever tried it out in public, I can't even remember how long I wanted to do this, but I finally did, and it was everything I ever wanted it to be

Picked up my new glasses today and I just absolutely love what they do for my look 😊

Ah the gloriousness of the ADHD productivity spike, went for a jog, cleaned the kitchen up and washed the wig in one evening, all of which I'd been putting off for days 😅

Early stage R&D is probably my absolute favourite part of the job, spent the morning putting together this extreamly inelegant setup for a cryogenic test of high purity metal

Following coverage over the weekend of Sir Paul Nurse's comments that suggested that the only reason that a Fellow should be expelled from @royalsociety.org is scientific misconduct, I have written to him to explain the risks such an attitude poses of increasing sexual harassment in STEM.

Also, after about a year of on and off experimentation, finally found a foundation with the right colour and a nice light coverage!

Annoying realisation that the pot of yeast I'd had in the cupboard for four years and assumed was fine is now completely gone, discovered my making a loaf of bread this evening which came out with the lightness and airy quality of a brick, tasted good though

Seemed like a natural day to start making everyone else in my life aware so started updating my socials, still mildly cycling obsessed so of course it started with Strava 😅

It's surreal looking back at the last year, to say it was a lot I think would be an understatement but I'm really just focusing on the fact that I kept the promise I made myself. I said 2025 would be the year I brought Tamsin out into the world and it was, I'm really proud of that 😊

Kinda difficult listening to my mum praise the NHS for getting my dad seen and assessed in less than a week (good and happy there was no issue was found) while I had been told that same morning that my GP can do nothing until I get seen by the GIC which will probably be around the time I turn 40

And predictably the GP responded to the shared care request by just vaguely calling it out of scope to follow the very precise list they were given, I didn't realise being trans magically makes me blood impossible to analyse

Christmas season affecting me in wierd ways clearly, because I got bored and decided the family require mulled wine 😊
December 26, 2025 at 4:59 PM
Feel like I had a small rite of passage tonight, decided to wear a skirt and some block heeled boots to the work christmas meal. Felt awesome to be out how I genuinely love to be, but also, God my feet hurt. A couple of cis girl friends gave the advice of bring a bag with some flats next time 😅
December 13, 2025 at 1:48 AM
And because snap decisions at 4pm usually work out for me, heard back from my GP that they're just flat out saying no to shared care because it's "out of scope", whatever that means, so I think it's time to switch somewhere else

Isn't it just great when you wake up at 3am and the random and completely undirected path your thoughts are taking suddenly throws out potentially the perfect solution to a technical problem you've been facing for weeks? I love the idea of explaining how this came to me while mildly sleep deprived

Apparently now in a position of 4 people independently deciding to nickname me Tammy. I mean, yeah it's kinda affirming, but Aldo, Tammy? Is that my energy?
December 6, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Answer from my GP yesterday "we have located your change of name request and are processing it asap". Translation, we completely forgot to put it through to admin, please don't be pissed off at us 😑
November 29, 2025 at 8:20 PM
OK so it's been two months since I asked my GP surgery to change my name and gender marker and not seen or heard anything since so I think it's time to channel my inner Andy Dufresne and initiate a once per week badgering of the practice

Wait, so now it's don't waste money on coffee or avocado toast but also do drop up to £1000 on a new phone regularly?
If a phone still works fine, it’s not “device hoarding” to keep using it. It’s common sense.
