I’m fully in the holiday version of not knowing what day of the week it is currently. It’s like normal, but with pretty lights and candles everywhere in my house. #winter

My oldest son is home for part of his winter break and he made us #bread 🍞. It’s his first attempt at Challah and it was so soft and delicious! The other loaf is topped with poppyseeds and I wrapped it up to store in the freezer until we finish this loaf.

Week 2. Same basic (AP flour) recipe as Week 1. 🍞
What I did better: I didn’t miss the step of rolling a tight ball on a dry surface before placing it in the proofing basket. And I baked it uncovered for 10 min. vs. 15 min.

💙📚With the High Winds Warning and heavy rain, today was the perfect to cozy up on the couch and start a new book.
That was fun! I will let it cool overnight and cut into it tomorrow. 🍞 I made both loaves, but couldn’t remember where my second Dutch oven was (since found it!). So I baked the second loaf uncovered, alongside this one. It’s a bit too dark, but I am curious to see how it looks inside and tastes.

I started my Christmas baking after work today, and it’s a good one! Double Chocolate Peppermint Cookies from In Bloom Bakery. My boys have a favorite peppermint chocolate cookie from a coffee shop that closed several years ago. This one should make them pretty happy!
