Good to work with the team at Hopetown Darlington and very fitting that the Brilli-ant exhibition should get another lease of life there #reuse

Brilli-ANT!
An Interactive Climate Adventure for Curious Young Minds Inspired by Aesop’s classic fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper, this playful reimagining asks: what happens after the story ends? There’s big trouble in a little anthill... Winter hasn’t left, the anthill is in crisis, and the ants need your help. As climate change disrupts the natural order of things, the ants must learn to work together. Not just with each other, but with an unexpected friend: the grasshopper. Grab your interactive ant wand, enter the Carriage Works and journey deep into a sculpted anthill made entirely of recycled material. Crawling with creativity and buzzing with brilliant ideas, Brilli-ANT! is packed with hands-on activities, storytelling, and inspiring insect encounters - voiced by famous actors including Sir Derek Jacobi, Julian Clary and Samantha Bond - that show how even the smallest changes can make a huge difference. Meet a dung beetle with recycling tips, a bumblebee who knows the power of community, and a host of larger-than-life meadow-dwellers – each with their own story of adaptation and resilience in a changing climate. These wise bugs don’t just survive – they thrive. Discover how much we can learn from nature’s tiniest heroes in a hopeful, heart-warming, and interactive experience designed especially for young ‘two-legs’ and their families – with real, practical ideas for taking action, without the weight of the world. With an abundance of games, challenges, dress up, story telling and other activities and interactive elements, Brilli-ANT! is a brand-new immersive exhibition where tiny creatures take on a giant mission. Because little actions make a world of difference.

Giving University Exams in the Age of Chatbots

How I managed to give an exam while giving the students the choice to use a chatbot or not.

And what I learned in the process.

I didn’t have “time travel” anywhere near the top of my “next grift after AI” list. The chronomigration bubble came out of a confluence of developments; gamma ray telescopes sensitive to the 500 keV electron-positron annihilation energy allowed us to spot the inbound antimatter comet 67i/Fermi […]

Many people, of all ages, having fun sending faxes (old school style) across the room today. Not sure what it is about fax technology but part of it might be the sense of achievement you feel when one actually goes through :)

On again tomorrow (Sunday) and Tuesday at Arnolfini from 11am-6pm […]

I signed up for a black-market time-travel tour as soon as I heard about them. (The first rule of Time Club etc.)

There’s an hour long pre-mission briefing on how you must be extremely careful in what you say or do as the smallest event could have future-changing consequences.

After that […]

I didn't realise there was a video of Adam's heavy boots story.

The Heavy Boots story is no longer as well known as the Barometer story, and this needs to be fixed.
