Find it amusing how Surviving History and History Hit on YouTube can collab and come out with a really good series on the revolutionary war for probably less then a tenth of the budget. I’d use that as a palette cleanser

You watch the crossovers that Drachinifel and Venom did? Super interesting to hear them discuss the ships from a naval historian perspective and someone who knows way to much about the lore. Also their audio breaks practically every episode lol

I mean a modern battleship if the same size/tonnage could be great without cost taken into account. Replace the guns with a big VLS cells then stick a shit ton of CIWIS, defensive AA missiles, and jammers along the sides. Would genuinely be extremely hard to counter. Throw a seaplane on for antisub

I mean Ukraine has shown that heavily entrenched troops make for an utter bastard of a fight. If a side gets a chance to dig in and create a fortress it’s very hard to push through it

Surigao Straight has many things to say, mostly involving 16 inch gun fire, about just how out dated battleships where by ww2. Same goes for Washington at Guadalcanal, when the US didn’t have battleship in the area the seas basically belonged to the Japanese when they sent their battleships

Throw in night time and bad weather was hugely limiting for aircraft during ww2. Wait until a bit of bad weather and make a dash for the North Atlantic into the mid Atlantic air gap. Throw in bad weather also had an affect on destroyers and cruisers fire control systems more then battleships

Bismarck wasn’t out for a pleasure cruise and the Germans used their battleships to go after convoys every chance they could

I mean ww2 as well, bit hard to stop German commerce raiders and blockade runners if they can just wait for a bit of bad weather which is shockingly common in the North Sea.

Also if they weren’t so expensive to run throwing a bunch of VLS cells in place of the main battery would be highly amusing
