Talking shite about Newcastle United since 2024
As well as the prices there's also a lot to be said for how many fantastic historic buildings (mostly banks) up and down the country that, without Wetherspoons, would have long since been demolished or carved up into flats / some other business with the interiors never to be seen by the public again

They'll make a big play on the enhanced setting to Leazes Terrace and the economic boost to the city both during the demolition/construction work and the additional spend from an extra 15k fans on matchdays and other events: tf1892.substack.com/p/a-new-stad...

You need to get yourself to Galashiels for this physics-defying beauty of a stand at Netherdale

My thoughts on why planning permission for Leazes Park isn't impossible here, but will obviously need the Council and politicians on-side: tf1892.substack.com/p/a-new-stad...

Great piece Chris. Interesting to hear that there doesn't appear to have been much discussion between the club and the council / other stakeholders. If they intend on moving to Leazes Park, that will be key. Would be v strange if they present it as an option without informal backing from the Council

His ability to win free kicks absolutely massive away from home. Helps relieve so much pressure.

Some 1st half performance. Best half away from home since West Brom 0-3 under Pardew?

On Leazes Park, or elsewhere in the city centre, I would imagine any car parking proposed/allowed would be minimal, so not including a large amount of car parking wouldn't likely be an issue for the Council. 2/2

So in simple terms, there has been a massive shift in planning policy in the UK in the last 10 years or so towards sustainable development, and a large part of that is ensuring accessibility by public transport / minimising the need to travel by car. If a new stadium were to be permitted 1/2
