Started tracing as a kid. To provide com references i would mesh together a bunch of pics to frankenstein the perfect oc concept. i did it to the point where i learned basic anatomy, pose, clothing, color, etc
Last round i drew my ref and liked it as much as the art i was paying for, ai could never.
