Poached cod filets in my homemade tomato sauce with onions, garlic, and spinach. Putting that over browned rice and my lunch is complete. Now, to go out in the cold to get to the office... 😬🍽

Made refried beans using navy beans instead of pinto beans for quesadillas, added salmon and fresh tomato. Looks a little crazy, but it was very good! 🍽

Put out those new self-warming pads for the stray cats to help them bear the freezing temps overnight, laid frost cloth over my potato plants, brought in the geranium, basil, and tradescantia, and now I'm cleaning up my bedroom...this is me tomorrow!

I plant my cloves way deep (on top of soil, compost, and fertilizer) and cover with soil and a thick layer of straw to protect it over the winter...it will be harvested in June.

Out in the garden this morning hustling to harvest collards and kale to give to a coworker today. I need sunlight AFTER work! 🫩🌱

That's why I just stay in my garden. On its worst day, I can still find some ease in the garden...

The potato plants will be covered with more soil and straw. The kiwi vine was pruned all the way back to encourage strong growth for the spring & summer. I have to replant the strawberry beds and put them to rest for the winter this week! 🌱

Got some sunshine in earlier! Planted more cauliflower and looked over the winter garden. The pots are clustered to be able to cover them with frost cloth as it gets colder (the potato plants will die in the frost). Garlic is snuggled under the straw and the greens are unstoppable! 🌱

I got to hang out with my favorite people: my siblings. My brother was honored by www.deezydecks.com last night at their event, celebrating 5 years in business and it was DOPE! FAMU represented and Black business was celebrated. THE MITCHELL THREE continue to make their parents proud! ❤️

I'm glad I planted stuff over the weekend, it is chilly and raining outside. This week, I need to fertilize, replant, and mulch the strawberry beds and plant 6 more cauliflower plants. Next week, I'll clean out some of the flower beds and put down mulch. Gardening never stops. Summer highlights ⏬️🌱

The catnip was outside all summer and none of the cats found it. I repotted it and somebody was paying attention...🌱

Pot of navy bean soup on the stove, as I wait for the sun to rise. Planting again today...more garlic and potatoes going down, as well as broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts. The weather makes clear that I am a gardener and NOT a farmer...I don't like being out there in the cold! 🌱
