I don't post much about work, but today I added an index on a database for one of our top regressed queries. It resulted in a noticeable drop in CPU. Execution time dropped 83% and this is for a query that executes ~10k times an hour on just this DB. Now to deploy to the 22k other DBs. #sqlserver

When I start my work day, I typically quickly review several dashboards that I use to monitor our 26k DBs. This morning my deadlock dashboard showed this total for the last 24 hours. Yes, that really is almost 20k deadlocks in 1 day. I guess I know what I'm looking at today.
