I say that with a heavy heart .. like you Leon, I have offspring and a new-ish grandchild too.
The BOM here in Australia released a report saying we as a nation have crossed magic 1.5 now .. as we dig more coal to send offshore to make more more shit we don’t need !

No way off-more data (obscenity of wealth accumulation by a few, AI, rising emissions/population/consumtion, biodiversity loss etc etc ect ) only confirms that collapse of everything we know is unavoidable.
Personally, I hope it happens sooner rather than later-
For what remains of the environment!

‘We’ do not need more data.

Whether ‘we’ will see 3c for a doubling of co2 or 4.5c, makes fuck all difference right ?

Either way, they is absolutely no way to get off this wheel no matter how bad the data/effects become …

French still revolution with guillotines may have some effect !

My thoughts exactly !

Casting a wider lens, across the pollycrisis we are in, suggests that its a mute point when we reach 2C, either by the mid 2030's or late 2040's ... either way there hasn't been any real actionable road map off our current path.

Just a layman, however these conversations are doing my head in.... one 'highly' respected climate person saying one thing and another saying something else that at the end of the day makes absolutely no sense to me !
(piss poor explanation of hansens work I thougth too)

Watched some of the Uk climate briefing along with an interview with one of the brothers who put it together… wonderful/clever achievement.

For a second or two when watching the interview, I had hope, then I gave it another second or two of thought.. yeah nah, no turning this ship !!

I predict a mad (with the stupidity of humanity) biological weapons researcher will do a 12 monkeys style release to attempt to save what left of the natural world we inherited but fucked royally 😳 still working on odds !

Thank you Leon.... it is geting harder and harder day by day to hang onto the slightest hope 'we' might act differently given the overwhelming evidence you guys are screaming from the rooftops .... had hoped for a softer collapse, but that aint going happen is it ?

Hahaha … so bloody true

And poor old Alan wouldn’t have a job if he told the truth ! 😃

For the wrong reasons, ‘they’ are correct !
Net zero is not a solution (to our global warming conundrum), or a workable goal in anyway that matters.
Reality is much harder to accept and grasp in these times of polarised opinions and zero truths.

Feel your pain mate .. wish you acceptance and peace.

would be interesting to ask this question across like channel subscribers to see if the message/data disconnect to those we chat to is country specific or something else..hard not to slide in to doomerism given the total lack of understanding or concern the general australian i personaly encounter.
October 31, 2025 at 1:08 AM
Gday Nick, as a reasonably informed Aussie whom talks to everyone that crossed paths re: metacrisis, I am wondering if people like myself experience the same general lack of concern, interest or care. Would you consider 'questioning' the plebes such as myself to how 'we' see the disconect daily.

No expert, but I’m fairly sure that’s not the first ‘gibberish’ to leave his lips … 😊

Daniel, its a bitter pill to swallow, the pill of acceptence !
An aussie here, bound to the very same GDP growth pollitical and economic system as you; and when you actually 'see' a way for that system to allow for negitive growth, then you could share a glimer of hopuim mate.. :(
August 12, 2025 at 10:13 PM
any chance you could look at our emissions when all the offshore production is included in our consumption, surely our per capita GHG use is right up there.... no escaping our culpability. All to easy to balme China and not the real issue of enegy blind consumption !
August 3, 2025 at 10:16 PM
Alan, could you please do a video explaining the data presented in your latest climate/carbon story. Are the tally of China's emmsions valid as we like most of the world import our cabon and chemical heavy production form China, do we count the footprint of that importation as our own immissions ?
