I’m fortunate that I bought a home in 2019 before COVID hit. It’s now valued on the market for 200% of what I paid for it. In six years. I’m benefiting but a house should not be jumping that fast in appreciation.

Houses are literally sitting empty because the materials are so expensive because of tariffs, lack of labor, and builders can’t get their return. No one wants, or can afford, to pay $300k+ for a 1,200 sqft three bedroom with one bath house on a quarter acre. And that’s just in rural America.

I would dare to say most productivity gains are due to advances in automation and technology. Our population has more than doubled in 50 years while a large portion of our infrastructure remains the same. It’s a logistical nightmare.
