I’ve learned that taking care of my mental health means knowing when to close a chapter. Leaving, even when it hurts, is also self-love.

Some days working with children are especially tough. At work they told me they knew it wasn’t an easy job, and that I was qualified for other jobs if I ever wanted to leave. It made me think about how challenging and valuable this work really is.

Tired of people reminding me I was sick. Let me handle that time in my own way.

I’m a breast cancer survivor.
People say, "You look great, you’ve beaten it." I reply, "Maybe physically, but I silently carry my struggles."
They respond, "It can’t be that bad."

How hard it is to make the invisible understood.

Living abroad teaches you to handle those days when you really miss your people. The kind of days when you’d jump on a plane just to hug them. It’s tough, but you’ll get through it. Take a deep breath and remember—it won’t be long before you see them again.
