My favourite thing I heard of like this is a debugging feature in Alien Isolation where instead of hissing the Alien states aloud what it's thinking about.

So if those terminal functions were e.g. updating bits of DOM or Vulkan state....

Then I change little bits of `InputBigStruct` and only the terminal functions accessing the resultant changed bit of `OutputBigStruct` get called

It at least seems to do what it says on the tin; I can make `InputBigStruct` and `OutputBigStruct` and a tracked function between them with functions on the end taking only little bits of `OutputBigStruct`.
