Especially with Lynch – how AWESOME it is to be taken away by the weird visual experiences without thinking how you should talk about it to your friends in a way that makes you look clever enough.

It is even worse when you marry into a culture where not only would you leave the tag on, you include the receipt, and it is acceptable to exchange your gift if you don't like it. AND tell the people who originally gave you what you exchanged it to. I will never feel ok with this.

I am on the PR side and it is increasingly difficult to get writers on press trips, even when we give a menu of choices (no pressure on specific companies). And then the other side is those who made the name for themselves and are expecting additional pay for a trip. I can see why that is.
