I thought I might be experiencing some bias during my NC/SC experience (driving in a new area, maybe *I* was nervous??), so I paid close attention to following distance to compare when I got back to LA. I am extremely confident LA drivers give way way more following space.

Over Christmas I drove from CLT to Aitken, SC. First time driving in the Carolinas. The people on the road were *nuts* -- everyone was tailgating. Competitively, my daily commute here on the Los Angeles freeway system is positively chill.

I TA'd Fred's class at UCLA Anderson. He was the worst reviewed professor by a big margin -- it was so bad they cancelled the class. The guy actively antagonized students and *loved* it when people got upset. He relishes being a bad guy. A very strange man!

I'm happy Fred lived long enough to lose this battle. He'll be long dead by the time this gets built, but at least he'll die knowing that he lost.

MdR is so strange because they've obviously invested so much in the bike path, but walking/biking in MdR generally remains truly awful.

I've found this super confusing because the parking lots in MdR are prepetually empty. The TJs lot is packed, but the public ones are a ghost town (and no TJs parking is allowed there!).

Whenever I've spoken with LA traffic engineers I've left the conversation completely flabbergasted. Not only do they never seem to have never ridden a bike on LA streets, it seems like a totally foreign concept to them.
