To offer someone in their grief the “ability to speak to” their departed loved one is such an unbelievably deprived, heinous abomination. It is an insult to the holy and unquestionable truth that we will all die, and the best parts of us will live on in the hearts and minds of those who loved us.

Yes! Just like Ireland, the Holodmor, Bangladesh, and Palestine (and countless others). Forced starvation is a tactic that has been used for generations precisely because most people think of it as some kind of natural disaster instead of what it really is: genocide.

I know someone who had this happen to them in college. They went on to find out that they themselves were autistic, thought they were really good at masking but just came off as annoying and self-important.
