Friend, I too am a middle kiddo. I NEVER had my own room until my oldest sis went to college. "She needs her privacy as the oldest." Or, "she needs her own room as the baby." Middle sibs have it terribly!

I used a Metacognitive Dyslexia program in my classroom in 2007. I encouraged students to "think about their thinking." Every student in my class of 18 met the state standard on the Reading test. Teaching students to be critical thinkers is valuable.

I cannot tell you how many times I've said to students, "Before you get assigned EXTRA credit, you have to do CREDIT." And my blanket answer for the inevitable, "How can I raise my grade?" is and always has been, "Build a time machine, go back, and turn in your work."
